Ugochukwu (Ugo) Okolie graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 2019, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Biology. Originally from Lagos, Nigeria, Ugo immigrated to the United States through an educational and athletic opportunity and has since dedicated his career to service, education, and medicine.
Before pursuing medicine, Ugo worked as a teacher, mentor, and soccer coach at independent schools in New York, teaching mathematics and science while guiding students both inside and outside the classroom. He also served as a teaching assistant and tutor in graduate-level biomedical sciences, helping students succeed in challenging coursework.
Ugo completed Drexel University's Master of Biomedical Studies program and served as a teaching assistant for advanced physiology and biochemistry courses. His academic interests include anatomy, physiology, community health, and medical education. He has also participated in ophthalmology research focused on improving vision screening accessibility in underserved communities.
Ugo is an incoming medical student at Drexel University College of Medicine. Throughout his journey, he has remained committed to mentorship, community service, and expanding access to educational and healthcare opportunities. Drawing from his experiences growing up in Nigeria and navigating the path to higher education in the United States, he hopes to become a physician who combines clinical excellence with compassionate patient care and advocacy for underserved populations.
