Kofi Igyan is a 2023 graduate of Episcopal High School of Alexandria, Virginia.
He is currently enrolled at the prestigious Emory University in Atlanta, GA, as a Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology major on the pre-med track. Kofi plans to attend medical school and later become a dermatologist. Through this process, he aims to invest himself in learning how to improve the overall quality of life for those in his community, where he feels people lack adequate access to resources and education that could lessen observed health disparities. His participation in research conducted to understand the differential characteristics of African-American women at risk of suicide, and how their increased risk is associated with childhood adversity, is a major stepping stone on his path to building a greater future for his community.
