Jerome Mayoral, is a 2003 graduate of Cabrini High School in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Zie is an Education Consultant, learning and development trainer, and education leader with 20 years of experience supporting students, families, and educators. Zie specializes in the implementation science of the neurobiology of literacy and numeracy, working across diverse learning profiles including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, oral and written language disabilities, emergent multilinguals, ADHD, autism spectrum, students with significant learning loss, and gifted and twice-exceptional learners. After overcoming personal and family hurdles with dyslexia, Jerome excelled academically and professionally, beginning in ecology education, advancing into English Immersion, and ultimately becoming a literacy leader who integrates compassion with the rigor of multimodal literacy practices. Her expertise spans Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice and Belonging (DEIJB) practices in alphabetic and numerical literacy, neurodiversity advocacy, curricular development for twice-exceptional learners, and faculty coaching for best practices in sensory-based learning disabilities, encoding, orthography, and the tactile-kinesthetic aspects of literacy leadership.
Jerome is currently a PhD student in Literacy Change Leadership at the University of Central Arkansas (expected 2029). She holds a Master’s in English Immersion from Grand Canyon University, a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from The University of New Orleans; zie has completed base and extended practicums with Karen Sonday as an Orton-Gillingham Reading Specialist. Her resolve to see students, families, and schools flourish continues to inspire a lifelong passion for advocacy, equity, and the advancement of inclusive, research-based approaches to implementation, DEIJB, literacy and numeracy.
