Readiness Programs
BLAC understands that transitions—such as entering high school or preparing for college—are critical moments that can shape a student's trajectory. Its mentorship programs pair students with relatable role models who guide them through academic expectations, emotional readiness, and cultural shifts. In tandem, BLAC’s readiness assessments and checklists help families anticipate what’s ahead, ask the right questions, and plan with confidence. These supports reduce stress, increase preparedness, and foster a greater sense of partnership between home and school.

BLAC offers two Readiness Assessment Tools to help students prepare for their next academic step—whether that’s transitioning into an independent school or getting ready for college. Each tool includes a detailed, personalized summary of the student’s strengths and areas for growth, plus a 30-minute Zoom consultation to talk through the results and plan ahead.
Normally $100, each tool is available for just $25 with a special discount code:
PTAdiscount for School/ Independent School Readiness
PTAdiscount2 for College Readiness
The Independent School Readiness Tool encourages students to reflect on things like study habits, organization, and social-emotional readiness. The College Readiness Tool focuses on academic progress, life skills, and future planning. These assessments are a great way to start important conversations and feel more confident about what’s next.
Mentorships
Why Mentorship Matters

Students need more than advice—they need mirrors and models. Our mentors are not just achievers; they are compassionate listeners, cultural connectors, and champions for student agency. This program is especially powerful for BIPOC students and those navigating predominantly white or unfamiliar educational spaces.
