Jerry "Jurgen" Taylor graduated from EHS in 1981.
He attended Duke on Reggie Howard and Army ROTC scholarships with a major in Chemistry and minor in German. Upon graduation in 1985, he then obtained his medical doctorate in 1989 from ECU Brody School of Medicine, where ironically his EHS roommate, Cedric M. Bright, MD '81, is currently dean of admissions.
Following active duty as a physician in US Army during Desert Storm (Bad Kissingen, Germany) and Somalia (Fort Stewart, GA) conflicts, Jurgen has continued to practice medicine on the front lines as a board-certified emergency physician in the Charlotte, NC area for over 20 years.
He is currently serving his second term on the EHS Board of Trustees. With all that said, he can say that his experience at EHS was less than ideal or perfect, but it provided a foundation and relationships good as well as not so good and allowed him the opportunity to become, who he is today. It also created an avenue for his brother, Martiez '91 and cousin, Crystal Taylor-Simon '96 to obtain their goals.
