Jason Brooks graduated from the Webb School of Claremont, CA in 1999.
Jason grew up during some of the most challenging episodes of South Central L.A.’s history, including the ‘War on Drugs’ and the Watts uprisings of 1992. He saw countless lives wasted, ended by gun violence, gang activity, drug & alcohol abuse, dead-end jobs, systemic poverty, and mass incarceration.
Despite the myriad challenges of growing up in South Central Los Angeles, his life was changed the summer of 1996 when he began his first year at the Webb School of California. After his time in the foothills of Claremont, he spent time in Texas, Colorado, China, Tennessee, New York, Boston, and Mexico before returning to his native Los Angeles.
For the past 17 years, he’s worked as a Spanish, Mandarin, and Mathematics teacher, working to pass along the transformative gift of education to the next generation.
In the next stage of his career, he’s committed to working on the best problems the world has to offer. harkness.ai is just that. His team has built a tool that works like a FitBit for Zoom meetings. Meeting analytics are the future and they want to lead that charge.
Lastly, he’s a passionate advocate of foster care and a believer in the redemptive power of human love.
