Readiness Programs 

BLAC understands that transitions—such as entering high school, preparing for college, or navigating first-generation pathways—are pivotal moments in a student’s journey. In partnership with TRIO Upward Bound, BLAC provides mentorship programs that connect students with relatable role models who guide them through academic expectations, emotional readiness, and cultural transitions.

To complement this mentorship, BLAC also develops readiness assessments and planning tools that help families anticipate what’s ahead, ask informed questions, and engage with confidence. These supports reduce stress, increase preparedness, and strengthen the partnership between home and program—ensuring that students and families feel equipped and empowered at every step.

BLAC offers two Readiness Assessment Tools to help students prepare for their next academic step—whether that’s transitioning into an independent school or getting ready for college. Each tool includes a detailed, personalized summary of the student’s strengths and areas for growth, plus a 30-minute Zoom consultation to talk through the results and plan ahead.
