Dr. Chimere J. Jones

Chimere Jones graduated from the Madeira School of McLean, VA in 1999.


Dr. Chimere J. Jones has a background in higher education strategic planning, academic quality assurance, curriculum development, and  college and career readiness spanning almost 20 years. Chimere currently  serves as Associate Director, MSI Engagement with Student Freedom Initiative, a non-profit that provides a catalyst for freedom in professional and life choices for students attending a Minority Serving Institution (MSI) by increasing their social and economic mobility. Prior to that she led  academic affairs and compliance initiatives for international and  domestic universities, including Laureate International Universities as the Director of Accreditation and Academic Affairs and at the University of Maryland Global Campus as the Director, Accreditation Services and Regulatory Affairs.


Highlights of Chimere’s career at Laureate International Universities include managing academic affairs, regulatory affairs (USDOE and state-level), and accreditation (institutional and programmatic)  initiatives. Including regulatory site visit preparation, annual and quarterly academic proposal development and submissions, and guidance on licensure and certification matters for Laureate institutions.


While at the University of Maryland Global Campus, Chimere collaborated with academic affairs units, associate deans, program chairs and other leadership personnel to support ongoing compliance initiatives,  accreditation, federal, and state standards relevant to the University. Also, while at the University of Maryland Global Campus she also provided consultation on the continuous quality improvement processes for  targeted evaluations (e.g., course, program level, instructional design) and other quality evaluations using the online learning principles of  Quality Matters, Inc. and Online Learning Consortium.


Chimere’s professional and research interests include educational access initiatives, pre-collegiate preparation for college and careers, and postsecondary student retention and completion. She has been actively engaged with a number of college access companies including First Generation College Bound (Retention Committee Member), College  Summit (Personal College Advisor), College Success Foundation (Scholarship Reviewer), and Latino Student Fund (College Preparation Program Mentor).


Chimere is a Graduate of Benedictine University (EdD in Higher Education and Organizational Change), Trinity Washington University (MSA in Organizational Management), George Mason University (Project Management Certificate), and Trinity College (BA in International Studies).
